Irish actor Jamie Dornan recently shared the heart-wrenching experience of learning about his father's death while stuck in quarantine with his wife and kids in Australia. He expressed the unimaginable difficulty of the situation, being confined to a hotel room and unable to leave despite the severe grief and shock.
Dornan, known for his roles in various projects, including "Belfast," opened up about the tough time he faced in March 2021 when he received the news. Despite the emotional turmoil, he couldn't leave the quarantine, even with three and a half days left, and pleaded with production to allow him to exit.
Reflecting on the tragic loss, Dornan highlighted the support and encouragement he received from his father, Jim Dornan, an obstetrician and gynecologist. The actor expressed gratitude for his father's role in fostering his early acting career.
Dornan's own past has been marked by personal tragedies, including the loss of his mother during his teenage years and a devastating car accident that claimed the lives of close friends just 12 months later. Visibly emotional, he recounted these difficult experiences, indicating the deep impact they had on his youth.
In a moment of connection, Dornan and interviewer Patrick Kielty, both natives of Co Down, found common ground. Dornan shared that, despite the challenges, he is currently in a content state. He emphasized the positive aspects of his life, citing successful work projects, a supportive family, and a sense of achievement in being able to choose when he works—a luxury he once thought unattainable in the early stages of his acting career.
