Navan is scheduled for an early morning inspection

Hopes are high at Navan as they eagerly anticipate a boost in temperatures overnight, setting the stage for a potential racing spectacle on Saturday afternoon.

The current hiccup lies in an overnight frost, rendering the Navan track unfit for racing. Paddy Graffin, the IHRB Clerk of the Course at Navan, reports a bone-chilling minus three degrees from the previous night, creating less-than-ideal conditions.

However, conversations with the meteorological experts at Met Éireann have sparked optimism. Projections suggest a warming trend, with temperatures expected to reach a relatively balmy six degrees today and extending into tomorrow. There's even a glimmer of hope in the form of possible light showers overnight.

Despite these positive indicators, a sense of caution prevails. The organizers have decided on a prudent approach, scheduling a precautionary inspection at 7.30 am on Saturday, January 20, to meticulously assess the track's readiness. It's a delicate balance of optimism and realism as they navigate the uncertainties of weather conditions to ensure a smooth and safe racing experience.
